Bua Thai sits comfortably in a Leesburg shopping plaza, offering a casual yet inviting setting for those looking to dive into authentic Thai flavors without venturing far from home. It’s the kind of place that draws in locals and visitors alike who appreciate genuine, well-executed Thai dishes in a clean and relaxed environment.

The dining experience leans toward unpretentious and straightforward, with attentive staff ready to help you navigate spice levels and dish selections. Many visitors seem to appreciate the option to dial up or tone down the heat, which is a thoughtful nod to varied spice tolerance.

The menu covers all the beloved staples — from Pad Prik King, Basil Fried Rice, and Drunken Noodles with Ground Chicken to standout options like Sesame Chicken and Green Curry with Vegetables and Tofu. There’s a clear focus on bold, pungent flavors that often lean toward the spicy side, which a regular crowd appreciates, especially those who know what they want from Thai cuisine. Not every dish hits the mark for all palates; for example, some find the pad Thai less flavorful, but favorites like the pineapple fried rice and Drunken noodles often earn repeat orders.

For lighter starters and sides, offerings like Summer Roll, Edamame, and the fresh Papaya Salad (Som Tum) provide well-balanced accents to the mains. The presence of Thai iced tea on the menu adds a familiar, comforting touch for those who like to pair their meal with a sweet, creamy beverage.

Evenings at Bua Thai carry a cozy vibe, enhanced by the ambient lighting of the plaza and a leisurely pace that invites relaxed dining and perhaps a stroll after your meal. On weekends, the place can be quieter inside, offset by a steady stream of delivery orders, reflecting how locals balance dining out with takeout options.

Bua Thai works well for anyone craving authentic Thai fare in modest, approachable surroundings—ideal for casual weeknight dinners or low-key weekend outings. It’s especially welcoming for diners who enjoy exploring spice-forward dishes but appreciate the ability to customize heat levels. While it’s not a bustling hotspot, its steady popularity among locals points to a reliable and honest spot to get a taste of Thailand in Leesburg.

My new favorite Thai restaurant in the Ashburn / Lansdowne area. Very quaint setting and excellent service. The seafood pad Thai was exquisite! The whole shopping plaza is pleasant for strolling after dinner. Go in the evening when the lights are on.

Food was delicious! The service was great as well. We went on Saturday afternoon, I was surprised how slow the day was them but they had a ton of door dash orders so I guess it makes up for it. We ordered papaya salad, shrimp lumpia, spicy calamari and pad see ew. Portions were perfect for one person. The spicy calamari wasn't really spicy, sliced jalapeños were in it but I don't think it really added any heat. The calamari came with a subtle sweet sauce, really tasty. The papaya salad had tomatoes, green beans and peanuts so be aware if you have allergies. The main course pad see ew was delicious!! Perfect sauce, noodle cooked perfectly and enough for 2, imo. All in all it was a great place to eat in and everything was perfect.

Great pungent food. Their dishes can be extra spicy so make sure to ask for mild spicy if you can't tolerate it. My favorite dish there are pineapple fried rice and their Drunken noodles. However I do not like their pad Thai, it is not as flavorful.

Love this place! The restaurant located in a good location. Nice and clean inside the restaurant. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. I asked for spicy level 4/5 for my food and it came out perfect! We got Pad see ew and Drunken noodles and they both were tasty and in a perfect portion. Good price.

Ordered takeout from Bua Thai today: Green chicken curry, Pad See Ew, and last, but not least fresh mango and sticky rice. Everything was so flavorful and delicious! The pricing is also very reasonable and the order was ready for pick up very soon after ordering. We will be making this a staple for our Leesburg Thai cravings moving forward. Definitely give them a try!

We visited Bua Thai for the first time tonight and was very pleased with out experience. The atmosphere feels both casual and elevated. Nice use of warm lighting and homey dining setting. They have a great attention to detail, its obviouse they care about the customer experience. Our family shared some spring rolls and a beef fried rice. Nothing beats a casual family dinner at a thai restaurant. We will definitely be coming back.

Stopped in to Bua Thai for dinner while visiting the area on business. Was not crowded, seated immediately, service was friendly and fast. I ordered som tom (papaya salad) and green curry with tofu and vegetables. The Som Tom was delicious, great flavors and textures and topped with two large grilled shrimp. I love that they used ripe cherry tomatoes, very nice! The green curry was also extremely flavorful and full of great vegetables and tofu and topped with a large sprig of fresh basil. The green curry was not too sweet and also the eggplant was cooked perfectly. Overall a wonderful experience. I will definitely return on my next visit to the area.
